Red-tailed Hawk Dines on Grey Squirrel
Cooper's Hawks are occasional
visitors, and Merlins rare, but this immature Red-tailed Hawk
has been a regular for several years now. It pounced on
this squirrel and pulled it under the bushes. The snow
had melted a bit, and the large hawk was amazingly well
hidden. It ate undisturbed for more than 2 hours.
