Barn Owl
   
We arrived at the campgrounds at Hells Gate in Idaho just after sunset.  We could see the lights across the Snake River, an open view that was quite different from the close canyons walls where we spent most of the day - in the Bitterroots and Hells Canyon.
   
Then a shadow flew up into the tree over the van.  Drew quickly found a spot light, and we got to see this wonderful owl.   It preened for a while, not seeming to mind the light much, and then finally lifted its head so we could see that neat heart shaped face.
   
What a treat!   Life is good!
